Welcome to LakeBacalarRentals.Com

specializing in rentals on the north end of Lake Bacalar
Pedro Santos, Quintana Roo, Mexico

Lake Bacalar Rentals .Com specializes in accommodations on the north end of Laguna de los Siete Colores. The Lake of Seven Colors, also known as Lake Bacalar, is the largest lake in the Yucatan peninsula. Over 45 miles long, it stretches from Pedro Santos in the north past the historic village of Bacalar nearly to the Belize border in the south.

img_0015.jpg (96355 bytes)          The access road to these accommodations is unpaved, rough and two miles long. You do not need a 4-wheel-drive or high clearance vehicle to traverse this road. A normal rental car will make it. Just take it slow. Enjoy the ride. You will see banana trees and pineapple plants and chances are good you will see a toucan, tinamou, fox, agouti or a coati mundi.

To get to Pedro Santos from Cancun, drive south on Highway 307 about four hours. The access road to these accommodations is located just south of Pedro Santos. Turn left at highway marker “59km” across from the tall satellite tower and follow the signs to Laguna Azul.

img_0307.jpg (167472 bytes)          Without phone, fax or internet, you will have time to watch the sun rise and listen to the monkeys greet the new day across the lake while you sip your morning coffee on the dock. Go for a walk in the jungle and watch the toucans and oropendolas harvest their breakfast from the trees. Relax in a hammock and read a book. Go for a swim. For lunch, fix your favorite sandwich and paddle around Goat Island or up the Jungle River. After the sun goes down, take a cold drink and a bowl of freshly popped popcorn down to the dock and watch stars so bright you can see their reflections in the water. After you eat the last delicious kernel, kayak by starlight. It’s fantastic.

If you can pull yourself away from the lake, you will be enchanted by the ruins of Chacchoben, Dzibanche, Kinichna, Calakmul and Kohunlich, all within several minutes to several hours of these accommodations. You will be enveloped in another era as you walk beneath the magnificent prehistoric palms of Kohunlich. The tour buses have not made it here yet and these palms are a “must see.” You will love it. All accommodations have a private or semi-private dock. All have private baths.
